Nohels Group started business in the early 50’s as Nohels Logging Company Limited. It later expanded its operations to include heavy equipment rental and excavation work to meet the rising demand for coal being sourced from the Elk Valley and increased road building activity in the region.

By the early 1980’s, Nohels Group had expanded its geographic reach to include coal mining operations in the Fording Greenhills and Fording River areas and through company acquisition began operating in Alberta. Government contracts followed, including a four year earth moving project on the Old Man River Dam. The 80’s also saw the addition of a complete Heavy Haul Division.

The mid 1990’s saw the start of a new era for the company as ownership changed hands and further diversification of capabilities occurred, including the purchase of a dredge and a crusher. Nohels has added a full Crane Division, a Pressure Washing Unit and a Concrete Division to its inventory, further establishing the company as a "full service heavy equipment contractor.”
