1974 - 1979

Nohels was the Contract Miner, responsible for rebuilding this mine after its closure in the 1930's. We mined overburden, exposed coal, then hauled it to the Breaker for processing. We were the first contractor in North America to use five Caterpillar – 100 ton 777 haul trucks. As well, we used a Bucyrus Erie shovel and twelve 769 – 35 ton haul trucks to complete the development of the Coal Mountain Pit.
